U17 BOYS INVADE OTTAWA CLICK HERE TO SEE THE DAY IN PICTURES

On Saturday Dec12 the Pegasus u17 boys also known as "The Beef" took to the courts at Franco Cite in Ottawa. The 11 players started as the number 2 seed with the only goal at the start of the day, for the coaching staff,  was to make sure all players played equal or  close to equal playing time, however with that said the day turned into more. In our first match we took on the Markham Stingers, winning 2-0. What was impressive in this set was how the whole team picked up the defense we were working on controlling the whole match with great digs and blocks.

The second set saw the Beef take on the Thunderbolts 94 a new club mainly made up of Toronto Blues. Once again the team dominated at the net taking the match in two straight sets.

Our third set was against the panthers from Elgin. With great passing and excellent setting choices from Andrew Zalewski and Colin Francey the Pegasus Beef took the match in 2 sets .

In the playoff the team dominated their first cross over match beating Interclub in two. The semi final was their toughest opponent of the day the older Thunderbolt 93 team. The Beef lost in 3 hard fought sets the 3rd 15-9 ending the hopes of a gold medal in our first tournament but again the goal was to play well this was a bonus.

The bronze medal match turned out to be one that the parents, coaches and players will not soon forget. After losing the first set to the new Element club team 25-17, the team came together during the sets to discuss the day and how this would be a way of showing what kind of team they would be. In the second set the Beef prevailed winning 29-27 but the best was yet to come.

In the 3rd and final set the Pegasus beef were down 14-8. On our final time out we discussed how it was not done until the 15th point to keep the ball alive and to score when you could. It was one of those sets you won’t forget as the guys came back to win the bronze medal in fine fashion taking the 3rd set 17-15 amazing.

A great overall performance. Although everyone played well a few players need specific mentioning. John Justinch was a machine , Andrew Zalewski ran a great offence, and Casey Murrays' steady play
